St. John has an active and enthusiastic PTG, supported by parents from the Elementary and Junior High grades and the faithful presence of staff and administration. During a regular school year, the PTG helps roll out several large fundraisers, including a Halloween Carnival and our very popular annual St. John Crab Feed. The PTG encourages community development by hosting several “just for fun” events for the school community. The PTG also serves the staff by organizing and promoting Teacher Appreciation Week each Spring.
In order to foster deeper community, the PTG takes on an important role facilitating communication between the school and the parent community. This happens through a variety of means including outreach to new families via the Welcome Committee, practical help meeting volunteer hours via the Volunteer Committee, and focused event planning and fundraising by separate committees for each major event. The PTG also collaborates with St. John’s Father Club to help support their events.
