We recognize that you, our students’ parents, are the primary educators of your child. We are honored to assist you in your ministry of parenting and educating your child(ren).

ADMISSION POLICY

St. John School, mindful of its mission to be witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students of any race, color, and national and/or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded to or made available to students at this school. TRANSFER PROCESS - MID-YEAR TRANSFER

Here are the steps to transfer your child into St. John School:

  3. Student Assessment & Shadow Day

Our Admissions team meets every Friday to discuss our applicants and decisions are sent out within a week. Should your child(ren) be accepted, we will provide you with the steps to getting your child(ren) enrolled and physically on campus.

ADMISSION PROCESS - FALL ENTRY

Here are the steps to apply your child to St. John School:

Once St. John School has received all the necessary documents and the student assessment has been completed, the admissions team will meet to discuss our applicants. Decisions are typically sent out within a week. Should your child(ren) be accepted, we will provide you with the steps to getting your child(ren) registered and physically on campus.


TK/KINDERGARTEN ADMISSION

Students entering Kindergarten must turn 5 years old by September 1st. All Kindergarten applicants will have the opportunity to be assessed by our Admissions Committee. Transitional Kindergarten is available to students who will not turn 5 years old before September 1st.


The following documentation is required for each TK or Kindergarten student applying to St. John School:

● A completed TK/Kindergarten Application

Hard copy forms are available in the St. John School Admissions Office.

● Your child’s birth certificate

● Your child’s baptismal certificate (if applicable)

● Your child’s immunization record

● A picture of your child with your entire family

● Application Fee: $50.00 before June 1st/$75.00 after June 1st


FIRST – EIGHTH GRADE ADMISSION

St. John School welcomes students entering 1st – 8th grade whether the students are new to San Francisco or are transferring from a local school. Past academic performance and the potential for academic growth are considered for admission to St. John in grades 1-8. An assessment and personal interview are also part of the admission process. We also encourage you to have your child join the entering class by shadowing for a day. 

The following documentation is required for each 1st-8th grade student applying to St. John School.

● A completed St. John School Application

Hard copy forms are available in the St. John School Admissions Office.

● A recommendation form from your child’s previous teacher.

● Your child’s previous report cards

● Your child’s previous standardized test scores

● Your child’s birth certificate

● Your child’s baptismal certificate

● Your child’s immunization record

● Application Fee of $50.00 before June 1/$75.00 after June 1

RETURNING FAMILIES

Parents must re-enroll their child/children for the coming school year. Since acceptance for the next school year is not automatic, the school reserves the right to decline to invite a student to return at the discretion of the school administration. Decisions will be made based on parental cooperation, student’s academic performance and conduct, and the educational opportunity available. Upon acceptance, a a non-refundable registration fee is required to hold a seat for the student. 


Students are officially registered when: 

● Tuition contract is signed and submitted. 

● Health requirements are completed. 

● Emergency Information Sheets are completed/updated. 

● All fees are paid up to date, including the registration fee, service hour charge, and any other fees due for extended care, library fines, and replacement of textbooks and damaged school materials. 

● Certificate of release from former school for transfer students is submitted. 

TUITION & FEES

We seek to provide affordable private Catholic school education for San Francisco and Bay Area families. The Archdiocese of San Francisco offers a variety of Financial Aid assistance programs for families with financial need. All enrolled families also have the option to receive lower tuition through completing a minimum of service hours during the school year.

Participating families agree to provide the school with a minimum of 20 volunteer hours for a single-parent family and 40 volunteer hours for a two-parent family during the school year. Service hours may be fulfilled in a variety of ways throughout the school year. Parents assist with school functions, fundraisers, and field trips, as well as volunteer in the classroom and serve as room parents and on PTG event committees.

Families that prefer not to fulfill service hours will be billed at the full tuition rate.

Registration Fees

Additional registration fees will apply at the following rates. Registration, annual fees, and 8th Grade graduation fee (where applicable) may be paid contact-free through Venmo.

Eighth Grade Graduation Fee (Eighth Grade Families Only)

Only applicable to enrolling an 8th-grade student.

St. John School’s eighth-grade class will lead a variety of fundraisers to raise money for eighth-grade graduation events. In addition, each family of an eighth grader will pay a graduation fee to support costs for the end-of-year graduation celebration.
