St. John families improved our garden and schoolyard, and earned Disney ticket Donations
On December 28th, St. John families partnered with Disney to earn park ticket donations to be used for our Crab Feed auction and student prizes! Disney invites organizations to host family volunteer service events. Our first event was held at St. John School playground and garden on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Students, parents and alumni worked together to clean up our garden and decorate our schoolyard.
Our volunteers worked hard and accomplished much:
– we cleared enough plant debris to fill roughly 15 compost bins
– finished building the retaining wall in the garden to help keep the upper garden in place
– removed trash from the garden, and found a school sweater!
– painted and tattooed over 60 river rocks
The rocks are on in planter boxes and on display at the base of the garden retaining wall. They will eventually be spread throughout the lower part of the garden and along the walkway as decoration.
Thank you St. John Volunteers!
Thank you to our 20 volunteers. Their attendance and efforts earned the school five tickets for Disney, California that the school will use for our Crab Feed Auction! We especially thank the Wrye family for leading the garden excavation. We also thank Home Depot Pro for donating $100 to our material expenses.
What Does Family Service Mean?
St. John will continue to host Family Volunteer Service events. Disney encourages families to volunteer together. This means parents and their kids come and we all work together. Siblings, cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles are all welcome to join our Volunteer Service events.
Every Volunteer Counts!
Bring your friends and extended family to St. John’s Family Volunteer Service events. Disney will donate tickets based on the number of volunteers present. More volunteers means more tickets donated. Disney will donate up to 20 tickets annually. Donated tickets maybe used for our school auctions and event prizes.
